Awwal is a prayer-times, worship-planning, and mindful screen-time app. This policy explains what information Awwal uses, where it is stored, and the limited circumstances in which it leaves your device.
Summary
- Awwal does not require an account, sign-in, name, email address, or phone number.
- Awwal does not use advertising or cross-app advertising tracking. It uses Adapty for Pro purchases, access management, paywalls, and commerce analytics.
- Apple and Adapty process purchase information. Adapty also processes app/device identifiers, technical device information, app openings, and paywall interactions. These records are separate from your local worship content.
- Your worship plan, completions, streaks, settings, covenant, selected-app shielding configuration, and reminders are stored on your device.
- To obtain prayer times, Awwal sends coordinates and calculation settings to AlAdhan. It does not send an account, device identifier, name, email address, or your worship history with that request.
Information Awwal uses
Information stored on your device
Awwal stores the following information locally in its app storage and App Group storage so the app and its Screen Time extensions can work together:
- worship tasks, schedules, completions, streaks, and preferences;
- prayer-time calculation settings, manual location entries, the most recently available device coordinate, and cached prayer-time results;
- your selected app or category shielding configuration, handled through Apple's Family Controls and Screen Time frameworks;
- local reminder and notification preferences; and
- optional content you choose to create in the app, such as a founding covenant or signature.
This information is not uploaded to an Awwal server because Awwal does not operate one for the app.
Location and prayer-time requests
If you allow location access, Awwal requests your location while you use the app to calculate relevant prayer times. You can instead enter a location manually.
When Awwal needs prayer-time data that is not already cached, it sends your latitude, longitude, selected calculation method, and selected Asr school to AlAdhan at api.aladhan.com. The request does not include an account, name, email address, advertising identifier, device identifier, worship tasks, completions, or streaks. Prayer-time results are cached locally to reduce repeat requests.
AlAdhan is an independent service. As with any internet request, the service can receive your source IP address and request metadata. Awwal does not attach an Adapty profile or device identifier to prayer-time requests. See AlAdhan for its service information and privacy practices.
Awwal also uses Apple's Core Location geocoding service to display a city and country for a coordinate. This can send the coordinate to Apple. The request does not include your worship history or an Adapty profile identifier. Apple's handling of this request is covered by its privacy policy.
Pro purchases, paywalls, and commerce analytics
Awwal uses Apple in-app purchases and Adapty to display Pro offers, validate and restore purchases, and manage access. Adapty can create a pseudonymous profile when the app starts, even if you do not buy Pro. No Awwal account or sign-in is required.
Adapty processes:
- an Adapty profile identifier, an app-installation identifier, and the device vendor identifier (IDFV);
- purchase history, product and transaction identifiers, subscription status, renewal and expiration information, refunds, and access status;
- app and SDK versions, device model, operating system, language, time zone, and store information; and
- app-opening events, assigned paywall variations, paywall views, and interactions with purchase screens.
This data supports purchase validation, restoration, fraud prevention, Pro access, commerce analytics, and selection and testing of offers. It can be linked to an Adapty profile, app installation, device, or purchase; it is not anonymous simply because no name is supplied. We do not send worship records, task names, routines, completions, photos, signatures, or Screen Time selections to Adapty as attributes or events.
Awwal disables Adapty's advertising identifier (IDFA) collection, IP-address collection option, and Adapty attribution feature. These settings do not prevent a network service from receiving the source IP address needed to handle a connection. Awwal does not use commerce information for cross-app advertising tracking or sell it to data brokers.
Apple handles payment and the Apple Account used for the purchase. Awwal does not receive your full payment-card details. See Apple's Privacy Policy and Adapty's End-Users Privacy Policy.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, Awwal schedules local notifications on your device for prayer times, worship windows, reminders, or streak alerts. Awwal does not use a remote push-notification server.
Screen Time and Family Controls
With your permission, Awwal uses Apple's Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity frameworks to apply the app and category selections you make. These Apple-provided frameworks enable the screen-time features; Awwal does not sell, transmit, or use that information for advertising or tracking.
Camera
Photo verification is disabled in the current release. Awwal does not request camera access or collect photos in this release.
Feedback and support
If you choose to contact us or open the external feedback form, we receive the information you submit, such as your email address and message. This is optional and is used to respond to your request. Awwal does not automatically attach your worship records. Do not include worship history or other sensitive content unless it is needed for the request. We retain support correspondence as needed to resolve the request and meet applicable legal duties; you can request its deletion using the contact below.
How Awwal uses information
Awwal uses local information to provide the app's core features: displaying prayer times, organizing worship tasks, calculating streaks, showing reminders, and applying the Screen Time controls you configure. Location is used to request prayer times. Awwal does not use information for behavioral advertising, cross-app advertising tracking or sale of personal data. Commerce information is used for the Pro services and offer selection described above.
Sharing
Awwal sends prayer-time requests to AlAdhan, geocoding requests to Apple, and commerce information to Apple and Adapty as described above. Adapty acts as a service provider for the purchase and paywall services. We do not automatically send local worship content to these providers, and we do not share app data with advertisers, data brokers, or social networks.
We may disclose information if required by applicable law or a valid legal process. We do not hold a server-side copy of your local worship records. Purchase and commerce records can exist with Apple and Adapty.
Retention and deletion
Most Awwal data remains on your device until you change it, reset it through an available in-app control, or remove the app and its data through iOS. Cached prayer-time data is retained locally so the app can work with limited connectivity.
You can deny or revoke Location, Camera, Notifications, or Screen Time permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Revoking Screen Time permission may prevent Awwal's shielding features from working.
Commerce records are stored separately by Apple and Adapty for purchase validation, restoration, subscription management, security, and their applicable legal obligations. Deleting Awwal or resetting local data does not automatically delete those records or cancel a subscription. Provider retention depends on the record and purpose; we do not promise a fixed deletion period for records held by Apple or Adapty.
For a request to access or delete commerce information that we control, contact contact@smart-apps.studio. Where needed, we will ask for a purchase or profile reference to locate the record; do not send passwords or full payment-card details. We will handle the request with our service provider, subject to verification and applicable retention duties. Manage Apple Account information through Apple. You can stop future app-originated requests by discontinuing use and removing the app; Apple may still send subscription updates while a subscription exists.
Children's privacy
Awwal is not directed to children under the age at which parental consent is required in their jurisdiction. Awwal does not knowingly collect account information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, Awwal will update the effective date and publish the updated policy with the app's support materials.
